The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48141 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and 3 flutes with a variable pitch, right-hand helical geometry. The Zplus PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. This tool is built for use in high-precision toolholders and is engineered to maintain tight tolerances, with a maximum TIR of 0.0003 inches. It is a single-end, centercutting design suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and tooling professionals.
This end mill is primarily optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and is also rated for secondary applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The H40ALV-3 series designation indicates a high-helix geometry suited for high-speed aluminum machining where chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, contouring, and full-width finishing passes on CNC machining centers in production and job shop environments.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series, rated for primary use in aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary material ratings for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Mill diameter and shank diameter both conform to h6 tolerance class for consistent fit in collet and shrink-fit holders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the toolholder manufacturer specifications when securing the collet or retention knob. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, particularly given the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is observed.
