The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48071 is a 3-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing applications. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius with a tight tolerance of -0.0020 to +0.0020 inches. The Zplus PVD coating is optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metals. A variable pitch, single-end design with a high helix angle of 40 degrees helps reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers with high-precision toolholders.
The 48071 is primarily applied in CNC milling operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, making it suitable for slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations. The 3 inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank provide rigidity in close-tolerance work. It fits the H40ALV-3 series application range and is well suited for production environments where consistent finish and tool life in non-ferrous materials are priorities.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-3 series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked. Use high-precision toolholders as specified for this series to maintain runout within the 0.0003 inch TIR maximum. Verify shank seating and retention torque according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before spindle start. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use.
