The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 48031 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of materials. With a 0.1875 inch (3/16 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.375 inch length of cut, this tool delivers precise square-shoulder profiles and slot cuts. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, while the variable index geometry helps dampen vibration for improved surface finish. Applied with a Zplus coating, this end mill is suited for demanding cutting conditions where heat resistance and tool life are priorities. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this a capable everyday cutting tool.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a 3/16 inch diameter tool is required. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collets and end mill holders. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional milling setups. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, expanding its utility for pocketing and ramping operations without requiring a pre-drilled start hole.
Designed as a standard 3/16 inch diameter square end mill compatible with any CNC or manual milling machine that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank end mill holder or collet of matching bore size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the correct engagement depth in the collet or holder per the toolholder manufacturer specifications, and torque the retention nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer recommendation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when tight tolerances are required.
