The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46801 is a 1-inch diameter, 3-flute square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with Zplus (ZrN) coating, this single-end tool delivers extended tool life and improved chip evacuation in demanding machining environments. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient cutting action, while the variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic vibration for smoother finishes. With a 6-inch extended reach and a reduced neck profile, it handles deep-pocket and deep-cavity operations that standard-length tools cannot reach. This end mill is center-cutting and features right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling applications in job shops, aerospace component shops, and production environments where aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys are the primary workpiece materials. The 1-1/4-inch length of cut (LOC) combined with the 6-inch reach length makes it a practical choice for deep slot milling, pocket roughing, and finishing passes in aluminum plate and billet work. The straight, 1-inch diameter shank fits standard ER or set-screw toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous material machining. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series: 3 Flute, Square, 40-degree Helix, Variable Pitch, Reduced Neck.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is safe to access before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the 1-inch straight shank fully into a clean, properly sized toolholder and torque set-screw or collet to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling.
