The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46416 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. Built on the H40ALV-RN-3 series platform, it features a 0.5000-inch mill diameter, a 0.1250-inch corner radius, and a 3-flute variable-pitch configuration that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The Zplus PVD coating provides enhanced lubricity and wear resistance, making this tool well-suited for aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications while also handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. At 6 inches overall length with a 4.2500-inch reach, it covers deep-pocket and extended-reach scenarios that standard-length end mills cannot.
This end mill is primarily applied in CNC milling of aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability across ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. The extra-long reach and centercutting geometry make it a practical choice for deep slot milling, profiling, and pocket finishing in aerospace, automotive, and precision machining environments. A high-precision toolholder is recommended to maintain runout within the specified TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches. The right-hand cut and right-hand helical flute direction are consistent with standard CNC milling spindle configurations.
Designed for use in high-precision toolholders consistent with the H40ALV-RN-3 series requirements. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials as noted in the material application codes N, P, M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Seat the 0.5000-inch straight-cylindrical shank fully in a high-precision toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder specification to stay within the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum. Verify runout at the cutting tip before beginning a production run. Do not exceed the recommended axial depth of cut for the workpiece material without confirming feeds and speeds against the manufacturer cutting data.
