The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46400 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in both roughing and finishing operations. It carries a 0.5-inch mill diameter with a 0.0300-inch corner radius and features 3 flutes with a variable-pitch, high-helix geometry. The 6-inch overall length and 4.25-inch reach make it well suited for deep-cavity and extended-reach cutting applications. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunging into the workpiece. Manufactured to h6 shank and diameter tolerances, with a TIR maximum of 0.0003 inches, this end mill delivers consistent dimensional accuracy across production runs.
The 46400 is engineered primarily for aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Its extra-long length and 0.475-inch neck diameter make it a practical choice for deep-pocket profiling and contouring where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The Series H40ALV-RN-3 designation identifies it within HELICAL SOLUTIONS extended-reach, variable-index product family. This end mill is intended for use with high-precision toolholders and is appropriate for CNC machining centers operating at elevated surface footage on non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders on CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metals; secondary compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS Series H40ALV-RN-3.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state. Seat the 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into a high-precision toolholder and confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0003-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Inspect the corner radius and flute edges for chipping during each tool change. Follow the machine and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for pull-stud torque and retention force.
