The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46251 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and three flutes with a variable pitch and high helix angle of 40 degrees. The tool is finished with a Zplus PVD coating optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metals while remaining capable in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is center-cutting and single-end, making it suitable for plunge, slot, and profile operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for both roughing and finishing passes.
The 46251 is suited for use in CNC machining centers and high-precision toolholders where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. With a 1/2 inch length of cut, a 2-1/8 inch reach length, and a 4 inch overall length, it handles extended-reach operations without sacrificing rigidity. The straight cylindrical shank with an h6 tolerance ensures consistent runout in collet and hydraulic chuck systems. Primary applications include aluminum and non-ferrous metal machining, with secondary capability across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders including collet chucks and hydraulic chucks. Suitable for CNC milling operations on aluminum, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-RN-3 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is de-energized before loading or removing the end mill. Use a high-precision toolholder appropriate for the 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank to maintain the specified TIR. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for damage before each use and follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for pull-stud or collet nut retention.
