The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46231 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built to the H40ALV-RN-3 series, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and three flutes with a variable pitch configuration. The Zplus PVD coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum and non-ferrous cuts. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch length of cut, this is a single-end, center-cutting tool suited for profiling, slotting, and finishing passes where corner integrity and surface finish are critical. Machinists and CNC operators running high-precision toolholders will find this tool optimized for both roughing and finishing in a single setup.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines targeting aluminum and non-ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material. Secondary material compatibility covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. The extended reach design with a 1-1/8 inch reach length and 0.3560 inch neck diameter makes it practical for operations requiring clearance past workpiece features or fixture components. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. Pairing this tool with high-precision toolholders is recommended to take full advantage of the 0.0003 inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications. Primary material application is aluminum and non-ferrous metal. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high temperature alloys, and hard materials. Part of the H40ALV-RN-3 series.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. The h6 shank diameter tolerance is specified for high-precision toolholder fitment - use the appropriate collet or shrink-fit holder to maintain runout within spec. Verify tool projection and reach clearance against the workpiece and fixture before initiating the program.
