The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46230 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and three flutes with a variable pitch and 40-degree high helix angle. The single-end, centercutting geometry allows plunge entry and full slot or peripheral milling. Bright/uncoated finish is optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous applications where coating buildup is a concern. Extended reach and a reduced neck diameter of 0.3560 inches support access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity.
This end mill is suited for production and maintenance machining environments running CNC vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, or high-speed machining cells. Primary applications include finishing and roughing passes on aluminum components, housings, and structural parts. The variable pitch design helps reduce harmonic chatter at higher spindle speeds and feed rates. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard and high-precision toolholders, making it compatible with collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks used in tight-tolerance work. It is a single-piece solid carbide tool - not brazed or indexable.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS H40ALV-RN-3 series, intended for aluminum and non-ferrous primary applications with secondary use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge length before tightening to prevent pullout under load. Power down and lock out the spindle before any tool change. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's runout and clamping specifications - the 0.0003-inch maximum TIR of this tool can only be realized in a properly maintained, high-precision holder.
