The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 46105 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in non-ferrous metals, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and a 3-flute, single-end configuration with a right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute direction. The variable pitch, high-helix design supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. This end mill is centercutting and extended reach capable, making it well suited for machinists running precision CNC milling programs that require corner protection and chip clearance in tight pockets.
The 46105 belongs to the H40ALV-RN-3 series and is intended for use in high-precision toolholders. Its primary application is non-ferrous metal machining, particularly aluminum, but the secondary material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank and h6 shank diameter tolerance make it compatible with standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders requiring close-tolerance shanks. This tool is appropriate for job shops, aerospace shops, and production machining environments where consistent corner geometry and runout control are required.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal and aluminum. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. Series H40ALV-RN-3.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the toolholder collet or chuck to the recommended gauge line before torquing the clamping nut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and can fracture if run with damaged geometry. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before committing to a finishing pass.
