The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 45137 is a 5-flute solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a 0.0300 inch corner radius and is coated with APLUS, a PVD-applied proprietary coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The HEV-5 series features a variable pitch design with a right-hand flute spiral and right-hand cutting direction. At 0.2500 inches in diameter with a 0.7500 inch length of cut, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations in a single pass. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for precision machining applications in shop environments running CNC machining centers and high-precision toolholders. Its 2.5000 inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank at 0.2500 inches make it compatible with standard collet and hydraulic toolholding systems. Primary applications include milling steel and cast iron components, with secondary capability in stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The HEV-5 series is positioned as a general-purpose high-efficiency tool appropriate for job shops, production environments, and tool rooms working across a range of material types.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Suitable for CNC milling applications in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Shank diameter of 0.2500 inches fits standard 1/4 inch collets and toolholding systems.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power in a safe state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully and concentrically in a high-precision collet or hydraulic toolholder to stay within the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
