The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 31527 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel and cast iron applications. It features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 4-flute, variable-pitch geometry helps break up harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing operations. An APLUS PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. This tool is single-end and accepts a straight-cylindrical shank for use with high-precision toolholders.
This end mill is intended for CNC machining centers running steel, low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron. It fits standard 1/2 inch precision collet chucks and toolholders. Typical applications include full-slot milling, peripheral profiling, and 3D contouring passes where a controlled corner radius is required to maintain edge integrity on finished part surfaces. The HSV-4 series is built around variable-pitch flute spacing to reduce resonance in deep-pocket and long-reach operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, low-alloy steel, medium alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron (material codes P and K).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder bore and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, keeping TIR within the stated 0.0005 inch maximum.
