The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 31512 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and cast iron applications. Built on the HSV-4 series platform, it features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 0.0300-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool tip during both roughing and finishing passes. The variable pitch geometry helps suppress chatter at higher feed rates, making it suitable for demanding metal removal operations. At 3 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank, it seats securely in standard high-precision toolholders. The APLUS PVD coating extends tool life in abrasive ferrous materials.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where the workpiece material is low-alloy steel, medium-alloy steel, tool steel, or cast iron. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration suits conventional finishing and semi-finishing operations on ferrous components. It is appropriate for shops running production or prototype work that requires consistent corner geometry and tight dimensional tolerances. High-precision toolholders are recommended to take full advantage of the 0.0005-inch maximum TIR specification.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications involving low-alloy steel, medium-alloy steel, tool steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. Suitable for any machine accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Seat the shank fully into a high-precision collet or milling chuck and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut - maximum TIR is 0.0005 inches. Do not use in non-centercutting plunge operations, as this end mill is not rated for direct plunge entry.
