The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 29407 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous metal applications. Built on the H45AL-C-3 series, it features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish at corners. The Zplus PVD coating enhances lubricity and heat resistance, making it well suited for high-speed aluminum machining. With three helical flutes, a 45-degree helix angle, and a coarse pitch chipbreaker geometry, this end mill promotes aggressive chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during roughing operations.
This end mill is intended for roughing and general milling of aluminum and non-ferrous metals, with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hard materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be plunged directly into the workpiece. The straight cylindrical shank and h6 shank diameter tolerance make it compatible with high-precision toolholders. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocketing on CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments. This tool is used by machinists and CNC programmers working with light alloys and demanding secondary workpiece materials.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece material is aluminum and non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code N); secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloy, and hard material (Codes P, M, S, H). Straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance for consistent runout in collet and shrink-fit holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Seat the straight shank fully in a high-precision collet or shrink-fit holder to maintain TIR within the specified 0.0003 inch maximum. Confirm correct tool offset entry in the CNC control before initiating the first cut, and verify chip evacuation is adequate when running at high feed rates in aluminum.
