The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 17465 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for milling non-ferrous metals and aluminum alloys. With a 0.500 inch mill diameter, a 1.250 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree high helix angle, this tool is built for both roughing and finishing passes in materials where chip evacuation and surface finish are critical. The bright, uncoated carbide construction suits aluminum and other non-ferrous workpiece materials where coatings can cause built-up edge. It is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting and flute direction. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production floors, and aerospace fabrication environments are the primary users of this tool series.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills running aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous metals. The 45-degree helix promotes aggressive chip flow out of the cutting zone, reducing re-cutting and heat buildup in gummy materials. The 0.250 inch nose radius provides a true ball profile for contouring, 3D surfacing, and radius floor operations. The h6 shank and mill diameter tolerances support consistent tool holding and runout control in precision collet and end mill holders.
Designed for roughing and finishing operations on aluminum alloys and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for use in standard straight-bore collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and end mill holders accepting a 0.500 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the tool holder to minimize deflection and maximize rigidity. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, particularly on finish contouring operations.
