The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 04167 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance aluminum milling. It features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter with a matching 5/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. The 35-degree right-hand helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces built-up edge when cutting aluminum alloys. A Zplus coating adds lubricity and surface hardness to extend tool life in non-ferrous applications. The reduced neck design provides extended reach of 1.125 inches, making this end mill well suited for profiling slots and pockets where clearance is a factor. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical machining centers and milling machines.
This end mill is intended for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. The reduced neck, extended reach geometry allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity at the cutting zone. With a length of cut of 0.4375 inch (7/16 inch) and an overall length of 4 inches, it fits standard CNC tool holders and manual mills configured for 5/16 inch shank tooling. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 5/16 inch straight shank tooling; confirmed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous milling applications per the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum 3 Flute Square 35 degree Helix Reduced Neck series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly torqued collet or end mill holder to the depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling.
