The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 01090 is a 3-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 35-degree helix angle, this tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The center-cutting geometry allows direct plunging into the workpiece, making it versatile for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations. At 2 inches overall length with a 5/16 inch length of cut, it suits shallow-to-medium depth applications on CNC machining centers and manual mills alike. Machinists and tooling professionals install this end mill in standard 3/16 inch collet or end mill holders.
The 01090 is part of the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum series, optimized specifically for aluminum alloys and similar soft, gummy materials that demand sharp cutting edges and aggressive chip clearance. The bright uncoated finish maintains a sharp edge without the added friction that some coatings introduce on aluminum. This tool is suited for production shop environments, job shops, and precision machining operations requiring consistent performance on aluminum components. Its straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholding systems without modification.
Designed for use in the HELICAL SOLUTIONS End Mills for Aluminum - 3 Flute - Square - 35 degree Helix series. Compatible with any machine tool or CNC machining center equipped with a 3/16 inch collet, shrink-fit holder, or end mill holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinist or tooling personnel. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder and torque to the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet bore and shank for chips or contamination before seating the tool. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and starting cuts.
