The HELICAL SOLUTIONS 00165 is a 2-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for aluminum milling applications. It features a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge, which is critical when machining non-ferrous materials. The cutting geometry is right-hand with a helical flute profile, and the tool is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. With a 0.25-inch mill diameter, 0.75-inch length of cut, and 2.5-inch overall length, this end mill fits standard quarter-inch collets and tool holders. The bright, uncoated finish is well-suited for aluminum where coatings can cause material adhesion.
This end mill is intended for aluminum and other non-ferrous materials in CNC machining centers and manual milling applications. The 2-flute configuration leaves more flute volume for chip clearance compared to higher-flute-count tools, reducing the risk of chip re-cutting in gummy aluminum alloys. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in ER collet chucks, end mill holders, or similar 0.25-inch bore tooling. It is a single-end tool with no extended reach, making it well-suited for standard-depth slots, pockets, and profiling passes where maximum rigidity is a priority.

A licensed machinist or CNC operator should verify proper tool holder torque and runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before installing or removing the end mill from the holder. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the tool holder manufacturer minimum to avoid pullout under load. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials — it is designed specifically for aluminum and non-ferrous applications.
