The HARVEY TOOL EFG0468-C6 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in hardened steels. It carries a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) diameter with a 140-degree split point and an AlTiN Nano coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive, high-hardness workpiece materials. The overall length is 63 mm with a 16.50 mm flute length, and the shank diameter is 3.00 mm. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during deep micro-drilling operations. This drill is part of the Miniature High Performance Drills - Hardened Steels series, designed for machinists and toolroom technicians working with tight tolerances in hardened ferrous materials.
This drill bit is intended for use in hardened steel applications where standard HSS or uncoated carbide tooling falls short. It is suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills operating at the micro-diameter range. The h6 diameter tolerance on the shank provides consistent, repeatable seating in collet-style toolholders. Primary and secondary workpiece material is hardened steel, making it appropriate for toolroom work, die and mold drilling, and precision component manufacturing in aerospace, automotive, and industrial maintenance environments.
Designed for use in hardened steel workpieces as both primary and secondary material. Compatible with collet-style toolholders accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter. Suited to CNC machining centers and precision drill presses operating in the micro-diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with micro-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or toolholder rated for the 3.00 mm shank before operation, and verify runout before drilling. Carbide tooling is brittle at small diameters - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, and re-chucking without cleaning the collet bore. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speeds and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece hardness and drill diameter.
