The HARVEY TOOL EFG0310-C6 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for precision drilling in hardened steel applications. It carries a No. 68 wire gauge designation, equivalent to 0.0310 inches (1/32 inch) in diameter, and features a 140-degree point angle optimized for accurate entry and reduced walking on hard, abrasive workpiece surfaces. The AlTiN Nano coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness to extend tool life under the elevated cutting temperatures typical in hardened steel drilling. At 50 mm overall length with an 11 mm spiral flute, this bit is suited for controlled, short-depth holes in tight-tolerance applications. Installation is right-hand cut only.
This micro drill bit is part of the Harvey Tool Miniature High Performance Drills series for hardened steels. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers, precision drill presses, and manual mills where small-diameter, tight-tolerance hole making in hardened ferrous materials is required. Typical applications include tooling and die work, mold components, and precision instrument parts where hole diameter tolerance and surface finish are critical. The h6 shank tolerance on the 3 mm shank diameter ensures consistent tool holding in collet-style chucks.
Designed for drilling hardened steel as both primary and secondary workpiece material. The 3 mm shank diameter with h6 tolerance is suited for precision collet chucks and tool holders accepting 3 mm shanks on CNC machining centers and precision drill presses.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked state before inserting or removing the bit from the tool holder. Use a properly sized collet matched to the 3 mm shank for secure clamping and minimal runout. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material and coating type, as micro-diameter carbide tooling is susceptible to breakage from excessive feed rates or lateral loading.
