The HARVEY TOOL CHT0292-C3 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in prehardened mold steels and similarly hard ferrous materials. Built to wire gauge No. 69 with a decimal diameter of 0.0292 inches, this bit carries a 140-degree drill point angle optimized for hard material entry and reduced walking on tight-tolerance work. The AlTiN coating adds surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With an overall length of 50.00 mm and a spiral flute design, it suits high-RPM spindle applications where small-diameter accuracy is critical.
This drill bit is part of the Miniature High Performance Drills - Prehardened Steels series, built for machinists and toolmakers working in mold and die applications, precision component manufacturing, and tight-tolerance production environments. It is particularly suited for CNC machining centers and precision drill presses where repeatable hole geometry in hardened workpiece materials is required. The right-hand cutting direction and h6 shank tolerance ensure consistent chuck engagement and minimal runout in close-tolerance toolholding systems.
Designed for use in prehardened mold steels as the primary workpiece material, consistent with the Miniature High Performance Drills - Prehardened Steels series designation. Suitable for CNC machining centers and precision drill presses accepting a 3.00 mm shank diameter with h6 tolerance toolholding.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the bit. Use a precision collet or toolholder rated for the 3.00 mm shank to minimize runout — standard drill chucks are not recommended for carbide micro drills at this diameter. Carbide is brittle; avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, and any impact that could chip the cutting edge.
