The HARVEY TOOL BVT0890-C3 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in pre-hardened mold steels and similarly demanding ferrous materials. Built to wire gauge No. 43, the cutting diameter measures 0.0890 inches with an h6 diameter tolerance for tight, repeatable hole sizing. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and improves center accuracy on entry. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life during high-speed machining cycles. Overall length is 50 mm with a 4 mm shank diameter, making it compatible with standard collet toolholding systems. This bit is part of the Miniature High Performance Drills series, engineered specifically for prehardened steel applications.
This drill bit is suited for mold and die work, tool room operations, and precision machining environments where pre-hardened steel is the primary workpiece material. Typical applications include drilling small-diameter holes in P20, H13, and similar mold steel grades at or above 30 HRC. The right-hand spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently in blind and through-hole configurations. Machinists, toolmakers, and mold technicians working in job shops, mold shops, and production environments are the primary users of this tool. Sold individually.
Designed for drilling pre-hardened mold steel as the primary and secondary workpiece material. Part of the Harvey Tool Miniature High Performance Drills series for prehardened steels.
This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolmakers on CNC machining centers or precision drill presses equipped with collet-style toolholding. Ensure the machine spindle and collet are clean and properly torqued before use. Run at manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in hardened steel to avoid premature edge wear or breakage. Micro-diameter carbide drills are brittle — avoid side loading and confirm workpiece is rigidly fixtured before beginning the cut.
