The HARVEY TOOL 998616 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations where surface finish and edge quality are critical. Built with a downcut flute geometry, this tool pushes chips downward during cutting, reducing fraying and tearout on the top surface of the workpiece. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2-flute configuration that balances chip evacuation with rigidity. The 20-degree helix angle and right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional milling setups. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup or heat transfer concerns apply.
This end mill is suited for woodworking, composites, plastics, and soft metals where downcut geometry prevents surface delamination and fiber lifting. The single-end design and 1/4 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard 1/4 inch collets on CNC routers and vertical milling machines. Typical applications include finish passes on laminated panels, routing slots in plywood or MDF, and profiling composite sheet stock. The 2-1/2 inch overall length provides reach for moderate-depth setups without sacrificing tool stability.

Verify runout with a dial indicator before production use to prevent premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
