The HARVEY TOOL 993920 is a solid carbide single profile thread mill designed to cut both internal and external threads in the 6-32 to 6-40 size range, covering 32 to 40 threads per inch (TPI). With a cutting diameter of 0.098 inches, a shank diameter of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inches), and an overall length of 2 inches, this tool is built for precision threading in tight bores and shallow profiles. The 4-flute geometry and bright uncoated finish make it suitable for a range of workpiece materials where coating buildup or heat sensitivity is a concern. Machinists and toolroom operators use this cutter where a single tool must handle multiple thread pitches without a tool change.
This thread mill is used in CNC machining centers for generating unified 6-32 and 6-40 thread forms in both through and blind holes, as well as on external bosses. The single profile design allows one tool to produce a range of pitches by adjusting the programmed helical path, reducing tooling inventory for shops running mixed thread specifications. The 0.050-inch neck diameter and 0.625-inch neck length provide the reach and clearance needed for internal threading applications where axial access is limited.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, with a 3/16-inch straight shank compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders of the appropriate bore size.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC thread milling cycles and helical interpolation programming. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and radial depth of cut against the manufacturer published speeds and feeds before running. Ensure the tool holder is properly torqued and the collet bore matches the 0.1875-inch shank diameter to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as solid carbide thread mills are sensitive to chipping from interrupted cuts or improper entry moves.
