The HARVEY TOOL 993120-C6 is a single profile thread mill designed to cut both internal and external threads in the #6-32 to #6-40 thread size range, covering 32 to 40 TPI. Built from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN Nano coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and heat tolerance in demanding milling operations. With a 0.098-inch cutting diameter, a 3/16-inch shank diameter, and a 2-inch overall length, it is sized for small-diameter thread work on CNC machining centers. Four flutes provide chip clearance and cutting efficiency across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments rely on this geometry for precise thread forms without a dedicated tap.
This thread mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers performing small-diameter thread milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The single-profile design allows one tool to produce both internal and external threads in the #6-32 to #6-40 range, reducing tool change requirements in mixed-thread applications. The AlTiN Nano coating supports dry or minimal-coolant cutting strategies in hardened steels, stainless alloys, and cast iron. Typical applications include precision components in aerospace, medical device, and general metalworking where tapped-hole tolerances are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style single profile thread mill for CNC machining centers equipped with standard collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Thread milling with this tool requires a CNC machining center capable of helical interpolation. Secure the 3/16-inch shank in a precision collet or end mill holder with adequate stick-out to reach thread depth without holder interference. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and helical pitch programmed in the CAM or G-code match the target thread specification before cutting. Inspect the collet and holder for runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
