The HARVEY TOOL 992032-C3 is a solid carbide dovetail cutter designed for precision undercut milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built with a 90-degree included angle and a 0.5-inch cut diameter, this cutter produces clean, accurate dovetail slots used in fixturing, T-slot work, and mechanical interlocking features. The 0.141-inch cutting width and 3-flute geometry deliver controlled chip evacuation and a consistent finish in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. Machinists and toolmakers working in job shops, aerospace, or general manufacturing will find this cutter suitable for tight-tolerance dovetail applications.
This dovetail cutter is suited for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills. It is appropriate for milling dovetail features in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar machinable metals. The 0.5-inch shank diameter allows direct mounting in standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, or Weldon-style holders. With a 3-inch overall length, this cutter provides reach for moderate-depth setups without sacrificing rigidity. It is a single-piece solid carbide tool requiring no inserts or assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide dovetail cutter for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter toolholder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the appropriate holder before beginning any operation. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation to confirm concentricity. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for solid carbide tooling with TiAlN coatings when setting up the cut.
