The HARVEY TOOL 990808-C6 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length with a matching 1/8 inch shank diameter. The 4-flute configuration with a variable helix angle of 34 degrees reduces chatter and improves surface finish at elevated chip loads. An AlTiN coating extends tool life in heat-generating cuts typical of ferrous and high-temp alloy workpieces. This is a single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute tool.
This end mill is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a small-diameter tool is required. The variable helix geometry makes it particularly effective when cutting steel and stainless steel at higher feeds and speeds. It is centercutting, allowing for plunge entry. Typical applications include slot milling, profiling, and contouring in tool rooms, production shops, and aerospace component work where tight tolerances and consistent tool life are required.
Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch collet or end mill holders. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and hardened materials (H) per ISO material classification. Part of the Harvey Tool Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys - Square series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible 1/8 inch collet or shrink-fit holder. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an E-stop state before inserting or removing the tool. Verify runout at the holder before starting a new operation, as runout beyond acceptable tolerance will accelerate wear on a small-diameter tool. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated depth of cut for the listed length of cut range.
