The HARVEY TOOL 982120-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.5 mm cutting diameter and a 1/32-inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-milling applications where tight tolerances and fine detail are critical. The three-flute geometry balances chip evacuation and surface finish, while the 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduces cutting forces. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. This end mill is single-end and center-cutting, with a 1/8-inch shank diameter and a 2.5-inch overall length.
This tool is suited for precision machining work in tool and die, mold making, aerospace component production, and medical device manufacturing. It performs well in hardened steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where heat generation at the cutting edge must be managed. The 0.5 mm diameter makes it appropriate for fine-detail features, slots, and contours where larger tooling cannot reach. Machinists and CNC programmers working on VMCs and high-speed spindle setups will find this tool fits standard 1/8-inch collet toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-installation end mill for CNC machining centers using 1/8-inch collet or toolholder systems requiring a 0.5 mm diameter square end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or powered-down state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as runout is especially critical at sub-millimeter cutting diameters.
