The HARVEY TOOL 981910-C3 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision finishing in ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking applications. It features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.01 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at pocket corners and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner geometry. The 4-flute, right-hand helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating adds thermal resistance and hardness, making this tool effective in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions on hard materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in tool rooms, job shops, or production environments install this tool in standard straight-shank toolholders.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes in milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite materials. Its extra-long flute length relative to its 1/8 inch diameter makes it appropriate for deep-pocket finishing where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The single-end design and straight cylindrical 1/8 inch shank fit standard collet chucks and end mill holders without modification. It belongs to the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills Corner Radius Long Flute series, engineered for tight-tolerance contouring and profiling operations on small features.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and composite workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The spindle must be fully stopped and the machine placed in an estop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout on a small-diameter tool accelerates premature breakage.
