The HARVEY TOOL 980210-C3 is a miniature corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, it handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite materials. The 0.01 inch corner radius reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge, extending tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. With 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes at small diameters. It fits standard straight-cylindrical toolholders and is well suited for machinists working on tight-tolerance components.
This end mill is classified in the Miniature End Mills - Corner Radius - Stub and Standard series, making it appropriate for close-quarter milling operations where a short length of cut and compact overall length are required. The stub length configuration provides added rigidity, reducing deflection when cutting hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. Typical applications include mold and die work, medical component machining, aerospace detail parts, and general precision shop work where a small-diameter, corner-radiused tool is called for. It is center-cutting and runs right-hand cutting direction.
Compatible with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter. Suitable for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with appropriate collet systems. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and composite workpiece materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or toolholder to the recommended grip length before tightening. Avoid exceeding the tool diameter tolerance stack-up when setting runout, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to imbalance and lateral load. Consult the machine tool builder documentation and applicable shop safety standards when programming feeds, speeds, and depth of cut for this tool diameter.
