The HARVEY TOOL 976820-C3 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 0.9 mm cutting diameter and 0.1 mm corner radius make it well suited for fine-feature machining where edge integrity and repeatability are critical. A variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during both roughing and finishing passes. AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians working on production or prototype components requiring tight dimensional tolerances.
This end mill fits applications in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments targeting medium alloy steels and similar materials. The 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard collet toolholders. With a 2.7 mm length of cut and 50 mm overall length, it is configured for shallow-to-moderate depth passes in tight or detailed workpiece geometries. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction follow conventional climb and conventional milling setups. The single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when worn.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Part of the Harvey Tool Variable Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels - Corner Radius series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine in an e-stop or lockout state. Seat the shank fully to the recommended gauge line in the toolholder before torquing the collet nut to the toolholder specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before commencing a production run, as runout at sub-millimeter diameters has a proportionally large effect on tool life and surface finish. Do not exceed the manufacturer-published feeds and speeds for the target workpiece material and depth of cut.
