The HARVEY TOOL 972512-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. This single-end tool features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and five flutes arranged in a variable helix configuration of 47 degrees. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials. The combination of variable helix geometry and AlTiN finish reduces chatter and improves surface finish quality. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. Installed by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing operations in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, hardened steels, and similar hard materials. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct chuck or collet mounting without a step-down adapter. The 3 inch overall length accommodates standard short-reach setups. The non-centercutting design means it is not intended for direct plunge operations. Typical use cases include die and mold work, aerospace component finishing, and general precision machining where tight tolerances and smooth walls are required.
Designed as a solid carbide square end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 3/16 inch collets or chucks. No specific machine model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer for this SKU.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling professional. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder before use, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool for plunge cuts, as this is a non-centercutting design. Follow all machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate settings appropriate to the workpiece material.
