The HARVEY TOOL 966108 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 3-flute right-hand spiral configuration, and a 30-degree helix angle that balances cutting efficiency with surface finish quality. The stub flute geometry paired with a long-reach design — 1.25 inches of reach length — allows access to deep features without sacrificing rigidity. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 3/16 inch length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Machinists and toolroom technicians use it for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder to maximize rigidity and minimize runout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, especially given the small diameter, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and reduce dimensional accuracy.
