The HARVEY TOOL 965212 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create precise, accurate center marks and lead holes before final drilling operations. Built with an 82-degree point angle and a Harvey Type II point geometry, it delivers clean, consistent spot locations that reduce drill walk and improve hole accuracy. The 3/16-inch cutting diameter and 2-inch overall length make it suited for compact drilling setups on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike. With a bright, uncoated finish and spiral flute design, this tool runs well on a wide range of metallic and non-metallic workpiece materials in general-purpose machining applications.
This spotting drill is intended for use by machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or maintenance-repair-operations environments. The single-ended, straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks or collet holders. The 5/8-inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for shallow spotting passes. It is suited for spotting operations on ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, and plastics where a consistent starting point geometry is required prior to twist drilling, reaming, or tapping sequences.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with standard drill chucks or collet holders accepting a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing or setting tooling. Verify runout and tool projection prior to cutting, and confirm that spindle speed and feed rate are set per the tool manufacturer's recommendations for the workpiece material. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant unless dry cutting conditions are confirmed acceptable for the material being machined.
