The HARVEY TOOL 955916-C3 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starting holes before standard drilling operations. It features a 100-degree point angle, a 0.25-inch cutting diameter, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, making it well suited for cutting harder workpiece materials at elevated speeds. With a Harvey Type II point geometry and right-hand spiral flutes, it produces consistent spot locations that reduce drill walk and improve hole accuracy across a variety of materials and setups.
This spotting drill is used in general-purpose machining environments, including job shops, production floors, and tool rooms. It is a single-ended tool intended for use in CNC machining centers, mill-drill setups, and manual milling machines. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders with a 0.25-inch bore. It is appropriate for spotting operations on steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar engineering materials where precise hole location is required before drilling or tapping.
Designed as an OEM-style spotting drill for use in standard 0.25-inch collet holders, ER collet chucks, or drill chucks in CNC and manual milling applications.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is properly seated and torqued before engaging the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator when precise hole location is critical. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate based on workpiece material and tool diameter.
