The HARVEY TOOL 942278-C8 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. Built with 3 flutes and a 42-degree variable helix, this single-end tool delivers improved chip evacuation and reduced chatter compared to fixed-helix designs. The cutting diameter measures 5/64 inch (0.078 inch), with a length of cut of 15/64 inch (0.234 inch) and an overall length of 1-1/2 inches. A 1/8-inch shank diameter keeps the tool compatible with standard collet systems. The TiB2 (Titanium Diboride) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in non-ferrous and abrasive materials. This mill is centercutting, allowing plunge and ramp entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for small-feature milling operations in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups. Its compact diameter and short length of cut make it well-matched for fine detail work, slotting, and profiling in aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, and other non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. Machinists working on mold components, medical parts, aerospace features, or precision instrument housings will find this tool appropriate for tight-tolerance work at small scales.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill compatible with 1/8-inch collets and collet chucks used in CNC machining centers and high-speed milling spindles.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet and torque the collet nut to the collet manufacturer's specification. Inspect the tool for runout after installation using a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
