The HARVEY TOOL 920516-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in hardened steels and other difficult-to-machine alloys. Built with a 0.0050 inch corner radius, 5 flutes, and a variable helix geometry at 37 degrees, this tool balances roughing and finishing in a single pass. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed cuts in hardened material up to 55 Rc. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, and the 1/4 inch diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank suits a wide range of high-precision toolholders. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians working in job shop or production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for machining hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys in precision tooling, die and mold, and aerospace applications. The short flute length of 3/8 inch limits deflection during tight-tolerance work in hardened material. The close pitch and variable helix combine to reduce chatter and improve surface finish. It is a single-end tool intended for use in high-precision toolholders where runout control is critical. The 2-1/2 inch overall length provides adequate reach without sacrificing rigidity in typical vertical machining center setups.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys in applications requiring hardened material capability up to 55 Rc. Part of the Harvey Tool End Mills for Hardened Steels - Corner Radius material-specific series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with solid carbide tooling. Secure the 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a high-precision toolholder to minimize runout, which directly affects corner radius accuracy and tool life. Ensure the machine spindle is at a full stop and locked out before tool changes. Do not exceed the rated hardness of the workpiece material, as cuts in material above 55 Rc can cause premature tool failure.
