The HARVEY TOOL 894231 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 1/32 inch (0.031 inch) cutting diameter and a 3/16 inch (0.187 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work in slots, pockets, and profiling passes where larger tools cannot reach. It runs a right-hand cut with right-hand flute geometry and a 30-degree helix angle. Three flutes provide a balance between chip evacuation and cutting edge strength at this small diameter. Centercutting capability allows it to plunge directly into the workpiece. Machinists, toolmakers, and CNC programmers working in precision job shops or production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for small-feature milling in a wide range of materials where solid carbide tooling is the standard. Its 1/8 inch shank diameter allows it to seat in standard collets and toolholders commonly found on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The 2-1/2 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most setups while maintaining rigidity. The uncoated carbide substrate is well-matched to non-ferrous metals, plastics, composites, and light ferrous cuts where coating is not required or where regrinding is planned.
Designed as a single-end square end mill with a 1/8 inch shank for use in standard collet toolholding systems on CNC and manual milling machines. No specific compatible machine models were identified in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before installing or removing the tool. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet to the recommended grip length and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. At this small diameter, minimize runout carefully, as excess runout will significantly reduce tool life and cut quality.
