The HARVEY TOOL 874524-C3 is a solid carbide dovetail cutter designed for machining angled undercut profiles in metal and engineering-grade workpieces. Built with a 45-degree included angle, a 0.375-inch cut diameter, and a 0.250-inch cutting width, this cutter produces clean, precise dovetail slots used in fixturing, T-slot work, and interlocking joint applications. The 3/8-inch shank diameter provides rigid coupling to standard collets. A titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened-material cuts. Three flutes deliver a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Machinists and toolmakers in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers of this tool.
This dovetail cutter is suited for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills requiring angled undercut geometry. Typical applications include cutting dovetail slots for workholding fixtures, creating slide channels, and producing interlocking part features. The 45-degree angle is one of the most common dovetail geometries in general machining and fixture building. The compact cutting width of 0.250 inches allows use in confined workpiece areas where larger cutters cannot reach. The TiAlN finish makes it viable in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting environments at elevated spindle speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide dovetail cutter for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/8-inch shank collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down the spindle and confirm zero-energy state before inserting or removing the cutter from the collet. Seat the shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. When programming feeds and speeds, account for the reduced effective diameter at the cutting edge relative to the shank diameter to avoid overload on the three-flute geometry.
