The HARVEY TOOL 849320 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in shafts and related components across ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from brazed solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The cutter measures 0.5 inches in cut diameter with a 0.062 inch cut width, and mounts via a 0.25 inch straight shank. Eight straight teeth provide clean, consistent cuts in keyseat profiling operations. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tooling professionals working with CNC mills or manual milling machines.
This cutter is suited for keyseat operations in residential and industrial machining environments where precise slot widths are required for key and keyway fitment on shafts. The straight-tooth configuration is appropriate for shallow-depth, full-width keyseat passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K apply, with secondary material codes N, S, and H also supported per manufacturer specification.
Compatible with milling machines accepting a 0.25 inch shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material codes P, M, K) and secondary workpiece materials including non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes N, S, H).
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling toolpath programming and speeds-and-feeds selection for carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing or seating the cutter in the collet or chuck. Inspect the brazed carbide head for cracks or joint separation before each use. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes for tool holding and cutting fluid application.
