The HARVEY TOOL 787724 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starter holes before full drilling operations. With a 90-degree point angle and a cutting diameter of 0.375 inches (3/8 inches), it establishes a precise location point that reduces drill walk and improves hole-to-hole consistency. The Harvey Type II point geometry is suited for general-purpose spotting across a range of work materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch flute length, this drill is compact enough for use in confined setups on both manual and CNC machines. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose machining applications where accurate hole location is required before a twist drill, reamer, or boring operation. The bright/uncoated finish makes it suitable for a broad range of base materials where specialized coatings are not required. Its 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks found on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses. The right-hand cutting direction and two-flute spiral design ensure clean chip evacuation during spotting operations.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose spotting drill compatible with standard 3/8-inch straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and bench drill presses.
This tool is installed by machinists using standard collet or drill chuck toolholding. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly seated and torqued in the holder before operation. Use appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and carbide tooling. Carbide is brittle and should not be subjected to side loading or interrupted cuts outside of its rated application.
