The HARVEY TOOL 787724-C3 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate center points and chamfers before drilling operations. With a 90-degree point angle and a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, this tool establishes precise hole locations and reduces drill walking on flat and angled surfaces. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding materials including alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened workpiece materials. A 0.500-inch spiral flute length and 0.0270-inch web thickness contribute to chip clearance and center stability. This drill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills by machinists and toolroom technicians.
The 787724-C3 is intended for general-purpose spotting applications in production and job shop environments. Its 0.375-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collets and drill chucks without modification. The Harvey Type II point geometry provides a clean, consistent spot that seats twist drills and carbide drills accurately, reducing positional error across repetitive operations. Single-ended construction and right-hand cut make it compatible with standard right-hand spindle setups in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and drill presses equipped with collet chucks or standard drill chucks accepting a 0.375-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool setups. Confirm spindle and chuck are fully stopped and de-energized before tool changes. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before tightening. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards for RPM selection, feed rate, and coolant application based on workpiece material.
