The HARVEY TOOL 786293-C6 is a 6-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for machining hardened steels up to 55 Rc. It features a 3/32-inch (0.0930 inch) cutting diameter, a 9/64-inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2-inch overall length with a 1/4-inch straight cylindrical shank. The AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. A variable helix angle of 37 degrees reduces harmonic vibration and promotes chip evacuation in difficult materials. The stub flute and long-reach geometry make this tool suited for tight-tolerance finishing and semi-finishing passes in hardened workpieces.
This end mill is built for use in hardened steels up to 55 Rc as its primary application, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The long-reach, stub-flute configuration is commonly deployed in die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and precision part production where rigidity and dimensional accuracy are critical. The 0.5000-inch reach length and 0.3600-inch neck length allow access into deeper cavities while maintaining tool stability. It is a single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute tool intended for CNC machining centers running appropriate feeds and speeds for hardened material grades.
Designed for hardened steels up to 55 Rc as the primary workpiece material, with secondary compatibility for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the Harvey Tool End Mills for Hardened Steels series: Ball, Long Reach, Stub Flute, Material Specific End Mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the 1/4-inch straight shank fully and evenly in a collet or end mill holder before tightening to avoid runout. Verify spindle and toolholder cleanliness before seating. Select feeds, speeds, and depth of cut based on the specific hardness and grade of the workpiece material in accordance with the tool manufacturer's published cutting data for hardened steels.
