The HARVEY TOOL 72550 is a solid carbide chamfer mill designed for deburring, chamfering, and edge-breaking operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 3/8 inch cutter head diameter and 2-flute geometry, this tool delivers clean, consistent chamfers in a compact form factor suited for tight setups. The bright/uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate fully exposed, making it a practical choice for applications where coating buildup is a concern or where the tool will be resharpened. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills.
This chamfer mill is used in precision machining environments for edge preparation on aluminum, steel, stainless, and non-ferrous alloys. The single end configuration and 3/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found in job shop and production machining setups. The included angle geometry supports 80 degree and 100 degree chamfer profiles, giving the machinist flexibility across a range of part drawing callouts without a tool change. Overall length of 2-1/2 inches allows adequate reach in most standard workholding arrangements.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chamfer mill for use in standard 3/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down the spindle and confirm the machine is in an E-stop state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to production cuts, as carbide tools are sensitive to excessive radial runout.
