The HARVEY TOOL 72118 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials in CNC machining centers and manual mills. With a 3 mm (0.1180 inch) cutting diameter and a 9 mm (0.354 inch) length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and pocketing operations where tight tolerances are required. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.125-inch shank diameter, this end mill fits standard collets and tool holders used in production and toolroom environments. Machinists and CNC operators install this tool for fine-detail work in small-diameter applications.
This end mill is suited for light to medium material removal in precision machining environments including job shops, toolrooms, and production floors. The 2-flute geometry provides efficient chip clearance, making it a practical choice for milling aluminum, brass, plastics, and softer steels. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is not a primary concern. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when worn.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collets or tool holders accepting a 0.125-inch (1/8 inch) shank diameter. Standard fitment for ER11, ER16, and similar small-bore collet systems that accommodate straight-shank end mills in the 3 mm diameter class.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and de-energize the spindle before inserting or removing any cutting tool. Secure the shank in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the collet bore and shank for chips or contamination before clamping to avoid runout issues that can damage a small-diameter carbide tool.
