The HARVEY TOOL 71250-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseat slots in shafts and bores on manual and CNC machining centers. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter and a 0.093 inch cutting width, making it suited for ANSI Standard 304 keyseats (Old Standard No. 2). The straight-tooth configuration delivers clean slot geometry in a single pass. An AlTiN coating provides elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard toolholders, and the 3 inch overall length provides clearance in most workholding setups. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the typical end users.
This cutter is used in precision shaft and bore applications where a keyseat must be machined to ANSI 304 dimensional standards. It is appropriate for both job shop and production environments. Common applications include drive shaft keyways, gear and pulley mounting, and fixture work requiring precise slot geometry. The straight-tooth design is effective in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where edge sharpness and dimensional accuracy are the primary requirements. Eight teeth support consistent chip load distribution across the cut width.
Designed as an OEM-specification Woodruff keyseat cutter conforming to ANSI 304 (Old Standard No. 2) for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/2 inch straight-shank toolholding capability.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before operation, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Always power down the spindle and follow lockout/tagout procedures before changing or inspecting the cutter. Do not exceed the cutter manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
