The HARVEY TOOL 71115-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling semicircular keyseats into shafts and mating bores. It features a 0.375 inch cutter diameter with a 0.04 inch cutting width and mounts on a 3/8 inch straight shank. Eight straight teeth provide clean, repeatable cuts in a single radial pass. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a 2.5 inch overall length and a 0.125 inch neck diameter, the tool provides the clearance needed to reach keyseat depths without interference from the shank body. This cutter is sized for the No. 204 Woodruff key standard.
This keyseat cutter is suited for manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills where shaft keyways must be cut to close tolerances. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary applications extend to non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Machinists and toolroom operators will find this tool appropriate for production and prototype work requiring consistent keyseat geometry across multiple parts.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for machining setups requiring a No. 204 Woodruff keyseat profile. Compatible with any milling machine spindle accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank via collet or end mill holder. No Weldon flat is present on this shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom professional using a standard collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured and the machine is at a complete stop before tool changes. Run at manufacturer-recommended surface footage for carbide tooling in the target workpiece material, and avoid climb milling on manual machines without backlash compensation. Inspect the cutting edges before each use — carbide is brittle and chipped teeth will produce out-of-tolerance keyseats.
