The HARVEY TOOL 70044-C8 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed to cut 1/4-20 unified threads in both internal and external applications. It features 3 flutes and a Titanium Diboride (TiB2) coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The shank diameter measures 0.1875 inches, the cutting diameter is 0.1800 inches, and the overall length is 2.5 inches. With 20 teeth per inch and a 0.5000-inch length of cut, this tool delivers consistent thread geometry on each pass. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in precision machining environments.
This thread mill is suited for job shop, production machining, and toolroom applications where a single tool must handle both internal and external 1/4-20 threading. The helical flute geometry allows the tool to trace a helical interpolation path using a CNC machining center, producing full-form threads in a controlled, low-force cut. The 3/16-inch shank makes it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly used on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Minimum nominal thread diameter supported is 0.2500 inches.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production thread mill for CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, accommodating a 3/16-inch shank in collet or end mill holder tooling systems.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC programmers familiar with helical interpolation threading cycles. Secure the shank fully in a balanced, properly torqued collet or end mill holder before use. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and helical pitch parameters in the CNC program before cutting. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external coolant or air blast should be directed at the cutting zone as appropriate for the workpiece material.
