The HARVEY TOOL 60031 is a solid carbide triangular milling insert with a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating, designed for metal cutting operations on steel workpieces. It carries an ANSI designation of TPET-321 and features an insert style of TPET with a positive rake geometry and an 11-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle diameter measures 0.3750 inches, thickness is 0.1250 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). With three cutting edges on a single-sided configuration, this insert delivers consistent performance in milling applications where precision and tool longevity are critical. Installed by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC and manual milling setups.
This insert is suited for milling steel in production and job-shop environments. It is designed as a screw-held, single-sided insert with a neutral hand orientation, making it straightforward to index and replace at the machine. The maximum depth of cut is 0.1250 inches, and the positive rake geometry helps reduce cutting forces on the workpiece. The TiN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in continuous and interrupted steel cutting applications. Compatible with HARVEY TOOL cutter series 81250 and 81260 as specified by the manufacturer.
Designed for use with HARVEY TOOL cutter series 81250 and 81260. ANSI code TPET-321 with insert size code 321. Primary workpiece material is steel (material code P).
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with indexable insert tooling. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver or wrench for the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge height and runout.
