The HARVEY TOOL 48960 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.06-inch cutting diameter and a 3-flute geometry, it produces clean, accurate square-bottom slots, pockets, and profiles. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces at small diameters. The bright, uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice for general-purpose work where coating is not required. It ships as a single-end tool with a 0.125-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 2.5 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for light to moderate material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 0.9 inches and a length of cut of 0.09 inches (3/32 inches), gives it access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity at this diameter. It is commonly used on CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and small-feature work are required. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional milling equipment.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. At this diameter, avoid excessive radial engagement or interrupted cuts that can cause tool deflection or breakage. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
